The West Africa Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (WAIMM) is proud to announce that it will host the 4th WAIMM Geotech Conference 2023 on July 25th and 26th.
This year’s conference is themed “Geotechnical Lifecycle of a tailings storage facility – Acting beyond compliance within the Global Industry Standard of Tailings Management.”
The two-day virtual conference, which will be held on zoom, will discuss the processes involved in tailing facility management. Participants will be taken through the latest Global tailings standards handbook, including the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), and how it applies to the management of tailings storage.
“We are excited to host this year’s conference, particularly the theme, which will bring together key stakeholders across the tailings value chain from the region and beyond, including designers, owners, operators, and (potentially) regulators,” said the Executive and CEO of WAIMM, Lawrence Omari Mensah. “The conference provides a great opportunity to not only share the latest research, but also have an open and frank discussion about tailings management, including improvements needed in tailings management practices, regulations, and sustainability.”
The conference will feature several presentations led by industry experts and thought leaders.
