Holy Child Past Students Association Class of 1983 (HOPSA ’83), has donated a newly-constructed building to Holy Child Senior Secondary School in Cape Coast.

The new building, located in the heart of the school, is a testament to HOPSA ‘83’s unwavering dedication to supporting quality education infrastructure.

Spanning 49 by 32 feet, the facility is designed as a stand-alone kitchen storage room to support boarding facilities, and enhance the students’ health and welfare.

This significant contribution marks a major milestone in HOPSA ‘83’s ongoing mission to support the educational institution and create a brighter future for students.

The donation is part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1983-year group reunion celebrations since completing high school.

The newly-constructed building is a result of collaborative efforts among all members of the year group, the local community, and dedicated partners who share their passion for education.

The project has brought together architects, engineers and construction professionals to ensure a high-quality structure that meets needs of the school for today and the years to come.

In a press statement issued and signed by president of the year group Prudence Danso-Dapaah, this remarkable initiative aligns with the year-groups’ vision of empowering students and giving back to society and their alma mater.

Recognising the critical role good health and welfare in education plays in shaping the lives of young minds, HOPSA ‘83 has undertaken this project to create a storage space where staff can organise stock in an orderly, clean environment.

“We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and a nurturing learning environment. By donating this building, we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of students and contribute to overall development of our community,” Ms. Danso-Dapaah said.

The press statement further added that this initiative represents only one facet of HOPSA ‘83’s comprehensive commitment to education. Members remain dedicated to supporting the growth of educational institutions, empowering teachers and implementing innovative programmes which enhance learning outcomes.

The new building’s donation and high school reunion celebrations run from 6th to 9th July 2023.

The new building’s handing-over ceremony is expected to take place on Saturday 8th July 2023 at Holy Child Senior Secondary School in Cape Coast, followed by a celebratory banquet that evening.

The celebrations will culminate in a thanksgiving church service at the school on Sunday 9th July 2023.
