ASA commits to environmental sustainability at Mampong College of Education

ASA Savings and Loans Limited has exceeded the 2,000 tree seedlings it targeted for this year and continues to plant.

At Mampong Technical College of Education in the Ashanti Region, over 200 seedlings – such as cassia, coconut, orange, guava, oframo tree, and monalisa trees have been planted.

Mr. George Yeboah, a representative of the Forestry Commission, explained that the trees are to provide shade and good for climate change. He further advised the school to take good care of these trees as they grow.



He noted that individuals and institutions are getting to understand the need for tree-planting and encouraged all to embrace the Green Ghana Project on-going in the country.

Mr. Alexander Opoku Ayitey, ASA Savings and Loans Area Manager – Mampong, said the tree-planting exercise is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to protect the environment in areas where it operates.

Mr. James Owusu Manu, Mampong Branch Manager of the company, said the gesture will go a long way to vegetate the area and prolong the existence of mankind and all living organisms on earth.

He encouraged the school authority to take good care of the seedlings to grow,

Mr. Richard Nartey, Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, mentioned that the exercise would be done annually.

“We have provided watering cans as well as fenced this area to guard the seedlings and to prevent it from human and animal destruction,” he added

Mrs. Doris Boakye-Ansah – Principal of Mampong Technical College of Education, Mr. Osborn Addai – Head of the Agric Department, and students took part in the exercise.

Mrs. Boakye-Ansah thanked the company for contributing to protecting the environment by planting trees.

She emphasised the importance of tree-planting to human life, indicating that “when the last tree dies, the last man dies”.

“We will do everything within our means by watering them always for the seedling’s survival,” she added.
