The Global-Africa Trade Advisory Chamber (GATA) has organised the Global Africa Business Dialogue in Dubai, with the aim to promote trade between Ghana, Africa and the global community.
The event, which took place on May 27, 2023, offered advisory and training services in trade, investment, and access to capital for local and foreign businesses.
Key guests at the event, including Ashok Puri – Chairman of MGT Group and Dr. Arshi Ayub Zaveri – special advisor to the Royal Family Offices, acknowledged the chamber’s role in line with the government’s vision to promote trade and make Ghana the hub of investment and business in Africa.
Ashok Puri and Dr. Arshi Ayub Zaveri emphasised the importance of GATAC and called on local traders and businesses to capitalise on the chamber’s initiative to expand their fortunes by connecting with the global trade community.
Dr. Zaveri praised GATAC’s past accomplishments and assured India’s Government commitment to providing support and collaboration to entities, such as the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and other government agencies, to bolster and increase trade volume between Ghana, Africa, and the rest of the world.
Deputy Minister of Trade Michael Okyere Baafi, who graced the occasion, assured participants that his ministry would create a conducive environment for GATAC’s activities while positioning Ghana as the preferred trade destination in Africa.
President of GATAC, Mr. Dominic Oduro-Antwi, emphasised the chamber’s role as a significant economic development vehicle bridging traders, businesses and investments in Ghana, Africa and beyond.
He reiterated GATAC’s commitment to supporting local businesses in realising the benefits of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and collaborating with various business chambers and organisations worldwide to achieve its objectives.
Other distinguished guests at the event include Sadia Lakehall; Ekaterine Maisuradze; and the President of the Georgia Africa Asia Chamber of Commerce (GAACC), Ambassador Sandeep Mehta; MD of GLICO Insurance, Andrew Achampong-Kyei; and Dr. Raisa Kumaga, Co-founder of Efra Wellbeing.
There were representatives from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Botswana, Canada, Nigeria, India, South Africa, Benin, and several others who joined virtually.
With over 200 registered members and representatives from more than 20 countries facilitating trade and investment, GATAC has been operating alongside the Ghana-India Trade Advisory Chamber (GITAC) to provide comprehensive support to its members.
GATAC was launched on December 10, 2021, in Accra.
