Tanokrom Business Centre (BC) of the ASA Savings and Loans Limited in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have organised its annual free health screening exercise for its clients and community members.

They were examined for malaria, hepatitis B, diabetes, blood pressure, glucose among others, and were given treatment and free medication according to the ailments they were diagnosed.

Mrs. Helena Gaisie, Head of the Medical Team for the screening, counselled them to ensure good eating habit, exercise regularly, get enough rest as well as limit the intake of excessive alcohol and salt.

“Keep your environment clean at all time, and do not wait when there is a communal labour or you have a visitor before you put your house in order,” she advised.

She urged those who were given medication to take it according to the prescription to the last dose. “Visit the health centre as soon as you detect that you are not well and do not buy medicine over the counter when it has not been prescribed by a physician.”

Mrs. Cynthia Naggai Blankson, Area Manager of ASA Savings and Loans Limited, explained that the health screening exercise forms part of the company’s social responsibility. “This exercise is organised annually across all our business centres in the country.”

She said the exercise was for the clients and the communities to know their health status.

She encouraged them to visit the hospital at least quarterly to check on their health and not only when they are sick.
