Keda Ceramics Ghana Limited of Shama district in the Western Region has presented a cheque for GH¢20,000 to support refurbishment of the Press Centre of the Western Regional Chapter-Ghana Journalists Association, in Takoradi.
The cheque-presentation was in response to an appeal made by the association to assist renovation of the centre to make it congenial for journalists and its stakeholders.
David Wei, Commercial Manager of Keda Ceramics Ghana Limited, said the role of Journalists in the socio-economic development of the region and country cannot be overemphasised.
He indicated the company aims to impact positively in its operational area, and then continue with the good working relationship for peaceful co-existence.
Dr. David Yevugah, Human Resource Manager of Keda Ceramics Ghana Limited, pointed out that journalists play an important role in development of the country – and contributing to the Press Centre’s refurbishment is in the right direction.
“We are happy to partner Journalists in the Western Region, and we believe we can do more to support the progress of your work in the future,” he added.
Desmond Cudjoe, Western Regional Chairman of the GJA, expressed gratitude to management of Keda Ceramic for their kind gesture, and appealed to other institutions within the region for support.
He added that the donations received so far for refurbishing the centre have been put to good use.
He stressed the need for corporate entities to factor into their budget an amount to finance the capacity building of journalists so as to enable them report accurately and be familiar with the operations of some entities.
