ASA Savings and Loans Company Limited, Ablekuma Business Centre, has organised a free health screening exercise for the customers and members of the community in which they operate.
The screening was to enable the individuals check on their health status and then seek further medical assistance depending on the type of ailment.
The beneficiaries were screened for malaria, hepatitis B, body max index (BMI) and blood pressure.
A team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and laboratory technicians from Haven Health Services assisted in the screening.
Dr. Solomon Ntaadu explained that the most occurring disease was high blood pressure. He further advised them to eat a healthy diet. “Choose fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish and low-fat dairy foods”, he advised, adding that they should limit the alcohol intake and quit smoking.
He underscored the need for individuals to check on their health regularly. He added that screening is important since some people do not get the time nor have the means to go to the hospital and check on their health.
Samir Sani, Area Manager of Asa Savings and Loans Company Limited, said health is paramount to the company.
“We always want to ensure that our customers and community’s members are healthy so they can work; that is why we have distributed insecticide treated nets to them to prevent malaria,” he said.
The free health screening, Mr. Sani said, is also part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, which is organised annually across all the branches and business centres in the country.
