Adamus Resources Limited, in partnership with College of Beauty, Arts and Entrepreneurship, has launched an initiative, dubbed: Women Empowerment (WE), at Aiyinase in Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

The WE project, which would benefit 100 women at Anwia, Teleku Bokazo, Kikam, Asanda, Nkroful, Salman, Akanzo and Akropong – all in the Ellembelle Districts – seeks to equip the women with skills to be self -reliant.

They will be trained in make-up artistry, hair technology, products formation, millinery and accessories for a period of six months. According to the sponsors of the WE project, another batch of 100 women will be enrolled later this year, depending on the success of the maiden edition.

Angela List, Chief Executive Officer of Adamus Resources Limited, speaking at the launch, said the WE project will impact the lives of the people in the company’s operational area.

“Today, the beauty industry is valued at over US$500billion, and a large chunk of it comes from service providers in skincare, hair care and make-up. The easiest route to entrepreneurship is skills development in these areas because it opens an avenue to train others and benefit from the revenue they generate,” she said.

Ms. List clarified that apart from generating revenue for women, the training being offered at College of Beauty Arts is packaged to equip the women with the necessary skills and resources to enable them to create a better life for themselves and their families.

She expressed optimism that such an investment in training and entrepreneurship will impact positively on the Western Region and the nation as a whole.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to take the training seriously, adding: “This is a first step in becoming self-reliant. People often confuse a woman’s quest to be self -reliant as a decision to remain unmarried and without a family. This notion should be discarded by all”.

She applauded the College of Beauty, Arts and Entrepreneurship for the vision in supporting the project.

Rebecca Donkor, Chief Executive Officer of College of Beauty, Arts and Entrepreneurship, explained that her outfit has been accredited by Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET); and can afford the women to study visual communication, digital media and social marketing.

She mentioned that TVET certificates open good prospects for beneficiaries even when they travel out of the country.

Kwasi Bonzo, District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, was elated with the training and lauded Adamus for supporting women in the community.

He mentioned that Adamus Resources employs close to 600 indigenes, “majority of them are males, so the WE project is to take cre of women who have been left out in terms of direct employment since they will be provided with entrepreneurial skills”.

He added that the company has agreed to release about 300 acres of land for a community project in the area.
