Ato Forson courts colleagues support to discharge duties as new Minority Leader

Newly appointed Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has urged the support of the minority caucus in Parliament, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party to enable him discharge his duty with unwavering dedication and high integrity.

Addressing the media in Accra on Thursday, January 26, 2023, the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam MP said he is humbled by the party’s decision to elevate him as Minority Leader.

“I am honoured and humbled to have been chosen to lead our illustrious and gallant caucus in Parliament. I thank the leadership of our party who have placed their trust and confidence in me. I am also deeply grateful to colleagues, the rank and file of our party and the Ghanaian people for their profound support and solidarity.



As a leader, it will be my duty to represent our collective goals with unwavering dedication and high integrity. I have no doubt that with your support we shall succeed,” he noted.

Dr. Ato Forson also revealed that he has had fruitful engagements with the former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, adding that he commended the former leader for his admirable stewardship when he led the caucus.

“I have held fruitful and positive conversations with my senior brother Hon. Haruna Iddrisu. I commend him for his admirable stewardship when he was granted the opportunity by our party’s leadership,” he said.

The NDC in a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, reshuffled its leadership in Parliament replacing the Tamale South MP with Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP for Ellembelle also replaced Ketu North MP, James Klutse Avedzi as the Deputy Minority Leader while Kwame Governs Agbodza replaced Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak as the Minority Chief Whip.
