MTN Ayoba Momo Accelerator awards five micro startup apps

Five out of 18 startup micro-applications (apps) have been awarded at the just ended MTN Ayoba Momo Accelerator awards.

After eight weeks of competition, the event in Accra started with a pitching exercise where all contestants had the opportunity to explain into details what their products are about and the problems they seek to solve.

At the end of the day Noni Hub took home the overall prize of GH¢50,000 and lifetime partnership with MTN Ayoba. Global African Radio, Tudu Online and Supply, Smithfield Agribusiness and Damasko Smart App all received GH¢20,000 each and lifetime partnerships with MTN Ayoba.



“We believe that MTN can play a much bigger role in the digitalization in Ghana therefore, we want to use this opportunity to support the startups, we want to help them grow and to also help the entrepreneurs who have ideas in the digital space to build and grow their companies,” Chief Digital Officer of MTN Ayoba, Dario Bianchi, said.

Mr. Bianchi added that, henceforth, the attention and aim would be to help the apps grow and be able to scale up. This he said, will help the entrepreneurs to build business out of their apps and become the next generation of digital startups in the country.

As a startup itself, he said Ayoba will continue to come up with new innovations.

For her part, Winnie Dzidonu, Manager of Digital Platforms of MTN Ayoba, indicated that the company has met all the participants as part of plans to understand their needs and how they can be supported: “We will work with them now and into the future”.

The overall winner, Noni Hub, expressed gratitude to MTN Ayoba for the opportunity, saying they will now be able to extend their services and help other startups with mobile apps get listed on the Ayoba platform.
