Over 300 customers at Asamankese and Madina Business Centres at ASA Savings and Loans Limited have benefitted from the ASA health screening exercise.
They were screened on Hepatitis B, malaria, sugar, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and other vitals, such as temperature, respiratory rate, among others.
They were screened by doctors and nurses from both Provident Health Centre and Haven Health services, and were given free medication.
Dr. Quist Kingsley of Haven Health Services noted that a lot of the people screened had body mass index above normal – “over weight and obese” – while some tested positive to malaria.
“Those who had abnormal body mass index were counselled and urged to eat well-balanced meals and exercise regularly; also, those who had malaria were given treatment and were advised to always keep their environment clean as well as eat a lot of fruits and vegetables,” he said.
According to him, the programme was generally successful as it helped a lot of the customers who came around.
“Most of them, due to their work schedule, have defaulted in visiting the hospital for their regular check-ups. They were, therefore, advised to always check on their health,” he added.
Mr. Godson Adzafi, Area Manager of ASA – Asamankese, explained that the health screening is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility as a financial institution.
“A lot of clients who showed up for the screening were happy for such initiative taken up by ASA,” he said.
Mr. David Amevor, Area Manager of ASA – Madina, also said the health screening is organised annually across all their businesses in Ghana.
He encouraged all customers to participate in the company’s annual health screening exercise.
