Over the years, MTN Stands in worship has become one of the most anticipated programs on MTN’s calendar and undoubtedly that of many people.
This year’s edition themed “Arise and Worship,” was held at the Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair, La and brought together music lovers, Christians and gospel music fans to worship and praise God in one accord.
The experience
With great creativity in all forms of setups, and coordination it was a great atmosphere of worship from start to finish, and an ambience of great joy and gratitude.
This year’s edition lived up to the theme “ Arise and Worship,”.
Performances
Perez Musik set the tone
Though marking his debut appearance at the biggest MTN Gospel music event, Perez Musik set the tone and prepared the atmosphere for an extraordinary adoration time.
Perez Musik has very tight Backing Vocalists (BVs) and they were on point that night as even those who were not musically inclined could tell the parts were audibly heard and the harmony was soothing.
Though BVs are the least mentioned, I must say “behind every successful artist, is tight Bvs” and this was evident in all the performances witnessed that night.
The about 15 minutes performances saw him minister some of his biggest songs, Hewale Lala (Song of Strength) and Blema Tesaa (Rock of Ages) and others.
Light up
Most of us saw just the award-winning artists on the bill and thought that’s all the excitement there is, but the MTN Viva Choir was just another surprise the crowd loved.
With melodious voices, the MTN viva choir was fascinating, getting the room lighted up with their song selections.
Though some of the BVs were carried away at the later part of their first song thus ‘My Worship by Phil Thompson’ and as result the harmony was not so smooth and some parts were louder, I must commend them for their felt presence during the second song and subsequent ones.
Beyond that, the choir was amazing with stage coordination and dancing moves with smiles just on point.
NSROMAmusic
NSROMAmusic’s performance was powerful as well. One thing most music lovers cherishes is when an artist sings someone else’s song but owned the song and ministers it beautifully with a new touch.
This was exactly what NSROMA music did to set the ambience ready to receive more from her and also to enjoy her songs.
Fire
Spending 20 years in ministry, Piesie Esther came in with the ‘Ogya (fire in twi) medley’ and it indeed set the place on fire.
The twist and new renditions of her old songs gave them new life and got the crowd to sing along while enjoying the new twist or surprises if you like. This strategy is notable among many artists and it’s a splendid approach to grab the attention of the crowd and beyond that making the artist timeless.
The voice man
The voice man like many of us would love to call him, Rev. PJ Markwei got worshippers who came from far and near in a moment of worship and led in a thrilling time of praises.
Rev. as usual, actively engaged the crowd to dance throughout his GA and Ewe ministration.
Koda with vibes
From the oil city (Takoradi) with delightful guitar skills, Koda and his band got many people dancing to his popular songs, Hosanna, Aseda amongst others. The crowd got more excited as the band took turns displaying their skills on the various instruments they play. Koda left the many who came to remember Jesus is indeed the bread of life.
He also remains one of the few artists that push efforts into perfecting his skills and is known for bringing a new twist to his songs and instrumentation of those songs, which was appealing and appreciated by the crowd at the MTN stands at worship.
The perfect stage controller
The perfect stage controller for the night would go to the Mo Ne Yo hit maker, Diana Hamilton who crowned the night with her prophetic songs.
Though the instrumentalists were not ready for her, she kept the crowd engaged smartly. To some, this is not a big deal but could sure affect the performance of some new artists however she showed maturity and delivered splendidly.
She might be the last performer but kept the crowd wanting more. She stirred the moments and one could tell how powerful she sounded pouring out declarations and appellations.
She also blessed fans with her new song titled “my mediations’’ and though released recently, the crowd sang along like it was an old song.
Diana’s BVs are one of the best for the night, perfectly dressed for the occasion and sounding their harmonies
The crowd indeed came for the ministrations as they were seen raising hands and voices, dancing and thanking God for bringing us to the 10th month.
The presence of God was undoubtedly felt at the concert and MTN must be commended for the success.
