GCB Bank PLC has officially unveilled a range of Visa cards for businesses to serve their commercial and corporate banking needs
This initiative, according to the bank, is in response to increasing innovations within the banking sector and fast-changing customer needs.
Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of GCB Bank PLC, Kofi Adomakoh, indicated that the move is also in line with the bank’s commitment to providing clients with the needed support to help them navigate current economic difficulties.
Commenting on the rationale for the new GCB Visa Business Cards, the Executive Director of Wholesale and Investment Banking, Sam Aidoo, explained that the bank aims to keep step with the rampant changes within the sector, meet customer needs and deploy technology across every facet of the bank’s operations to deliver superior value for customers and shareholders.
He further expressed hope that the new GCB Visa business cards will help push Ghana’s move toward a cashless society and help mitigate the risk of carrying bulk cash for business transactions.
“Ghana, like the rest of the world, is moving towards a cashless society – and the advent of a comprehensive and credible national database system provides a platform for Ghana to accelerate the cashless agenda. A cashless or cashlite economy and the use of business cards helps to mitigate the risk of carrying bulk cash, and helps businesses to track expenses and digitise business payments.
“Business cards also provide peace of mind to business owners, by enabling them to implement robust controls around their use. Furthermore, they help businesses with the separation and categorisation of business expenses for tax and record-keeping purposes,” Mr. Aidoo noted.
On his part, Head of Commercial Banking-GCB Bank, George Fuachie, explained that the GCB VISA business cards are available in debit and prepaid options, and have been designed to serve the needs of commercial banking, MSME and corporate clients. He stressed that the state-of-the-art cards are pin and chip-enabled for safer online and offline payments.
He further highlighted some more benefits of the initiative to customers, saying: “The GCB VISA business cards will provide our clients convenient access to business funds for the payment of bills, making purchases and withdrawing cash. The cards are pin and chip-enabled to ensure safety and security, and can be used to make online payments”.
In an interview with media on the event’s sidelines, Country Manager-Visa, Adoma Owusu, reiterated some of the difficulties some businesses face in dealing with their finances – saying the card is designed to address some of these challenges.
