Open Arc Foundation, in collaboration with Kasapreko Company Limited and GIZ, undertook a free health screening exercise at the Presbyterian School in the Ashaiman Municipality of the Greater Accra Region over the weekend.

In all, about 624 people benefitted – including children. This is in support of measures being taken to reach out to the disadvantaged in selected communities to access quality healthcare.

Speaking to the B&FT during the screening exercise, Head of the medical team, Dr. Brainard Anane, said the idea is to help the less-privileged in Ashaiman by offering them medical care, screening them and helping them to register for the National Health Insurance.

He said with various health specialist from the Ashaiman Health Directorate, they screened patrons for ailments such as malaria, blood pressure, hypertension, breast cancer, and various abnormalities and deformities for women and men.

Peal Annoh, Marketing Manager of Kasapreko Company Limited, indicted that their partnership with GIZ and Open Arc Foundation to embark on the exercise is to give back to communities, making sure that they look healthy.

Executive Director of Open Arc Foundation, Abeiku Aggrey Santana, said the foundation is a non-profit organisation created to perform different tasks that benefit the less-privileged in society.

“Today, what you are seeing is SDG Goal 3, which talks about access to quality healthcare. A densely populated area like Ashaiman lacks access to healthcare, and that is why we are here to reach out to the disadvantaged in society,” Mr. Santana said.

Founded by a team of professionals with the aim of equipping and enhancing human lives, he indicated that the foundation in the coming months and years will visit deprived communities in the Volta Region, Central Region and the Northern part of Ghana to give them access to potable drinking water by constructing boreholes for them. Empowering the youth through mentorship, skills development, rehabilitating ex-convicts, and others to unearth their potentials is also a major focus.

The community members expressed their massive appreciation to the Open Arc Foundation and its partners for the kind gesture toward their well-being.
