e.tv Ghana, in partnership with Japan Motors, observed the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day with the much-anticipated Corporate Run and Walk. The annual 5km run, saw over 600 participants from various corporate institutions in Ghana coming together to run, walk, network, and promote health through team-building and physical activities.
Participants raced through a mapped-out route from the Silver Star Tower to 37 Station, the El-Wak traffic light, Airport Roundabout, Airport Traffic Light and finished at the starting point.
The fun-packed event was graced with the presence of the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Grace Mercy. Some acrobatic display from the Ablakwa Group, live band performances from the Groove Music, and some aerobics exercises thrilled participants.
The end of the race, Abdulai W. Nuhu emerged the Fastest Visually Impaired Runner with a time of 24:43. Farouk Omar was crowned the Fastest Male Manager with a time of 34:30 while Phindo Mohlala emerged the fastest Female Manager. The Fastest Male Runner went to David Nakousi beating a time of 15:27, with Tit Rosina winning the Fastest Female Runner with a time of 15:51.
The Fastest CEO (Male) award went to Rockson Kwabena Guadiana Acquah while Gertrude Agyemfra topped the Fastest Female CEO. The fastest Over 60 Runner went to Gabriel Atsu Avevor, with Mr. Kyei winning the Fastest Over 65 Runner.
For the Fastest Corporate Team, Integrated Data Systems – made of Simon Ayetey, Emmanuel Assuman, Felis Ayudah and Ibrahim Zakari – emerged winners with an average time of 17min:15sec. Silver Star Tower with Isaac Annane, David Kumah, Jacob Dagbanja and Nicholas Asualao came second with an average time of 19min:35sec, while Lakeside Estates placed third with average of 20min:8sec
CEO for Global Media Alliance Group, Ernest Boateng, shared: “This year, despite being a competition, was fun-packed because more corporate companies came on board. The networking session was great to witness from the entire team. We also had a feel of unique and young talent who have the potential to put Ghana on the international stage in the next couple of years.
“As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), GH¢10 from each registration has been set aside and will be donated to the Ghana Blind Union as a form of support to the union. This is an initiative that e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors have been carrying out for the past 12 years.”
On his part, Salah Kweku Kalmoni, Event Director of Corporate Run, expressed excitement as he congratulated the winners of the various categories and all the corporate institutions that took part in the run.
