The Suzuki S-Presso mini-SUV is becoming very popular on the streets of Accra and other major cities in Ghana, mainly due to its interior and safety systems.
Many Ghanaians now have the helpful opportunity to work toward vehicle ownership – thanks to the CFAO and ride-hailing service provider – Uber for such a vehicle. The increasing number of the mini-Suzuki SUVs on Accra – Tema roads and other parts of the country is another clear noticeable outcome of this manual cute vehicle.
Built with a compact but sturdy appearance and a distinct design, the Suzuki S-Presso has generated a lot of interest.
With recent rumours indicating it is unsafe driving such a small vehicle, the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) says Suzuki S-Presso vehicle is certified, approved and passed the country’s safety standards.
The vehicle on the Ghanaian market, the authority said, meets the requirements of national standards, including provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to the protection of the driver against the steering mechanism in the event of impact.
Team Lead for Vehicle Homologation and Conformity Assessment at GSA, MacMillan Prentice, described as false, suggestions that the vehicle is not safe.
The model is fitted with two airbags as part of its Supplementary Restraint System for front passenger and driver, and seatbelts with pretensioners.
Speaking to the media days ago, Country Manager for Uber Ghana and Ivory Coast, Majorie Saint-Lot, said the S-Presso vehicles currently on the Ghanaian market are very different from the previous model make of year 2020 that failed the crash-test.
“I just want to clarify that the Suzuki S-Presso vehicles on our platform are from the year 2022 and have gone through crash-test from New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP). The vehicle has scored a 3-star rating in safety,” she added.
So, in general, the vehicle is equipped with dual SRS airbags for both driver and passenger. Its high tensile steel body is Suzuki’s TECT (Total Effective Control Technology), which helps protect the cabin in the event of a collision by efficiently absorbing and dispersing energy.
It is also equipped with a seat belt with pretensioner and load limiters which enhances passenger safety in case of an impact.
During an emergency braking situation, the anti-lock brake system (ABS) keeps the tyres from locking. The electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) optimally distributes front and rear braking forces to help stably stop the vehicle.
Furthermore, the Suzuki S-Presso is equipped with reverse sensors to avoid collision with obstacles and protect pedestrians.
These factors have undoubtedly made this particular Suzuki model a formidable competitor in the automobile market.
The Suzuki S-Presso features the revolutionary Auto Gear Shift (also known as Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology. It is equipped with the Intelligent Shift Control Actuator, an electric-hydraulic actuator that automatically performs clutch and shift operations enabling the user to experience the futuristic.
