Prof Naana Jane represents John Mahama at 35th anniversary of Star of the Sea Catholic Church

The 2020 running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang graced the 35th anniversary of the Star of the Sea Catholic Church at Dansoman.

The vice presidential candidate was at the church over the weekend to represent John Dramani Mahama who was attending the funeral of the late Northern Regional Chairman of the NDC which coincided with the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Parish.

Speaking on behalf of the former President, Prof. Naana Jane congratulated the congregation and recognised the role of the Catholic Church in many areas of development including education, health and support for the vulnerable, which has made a tremendous impact on the country.



She made a special appeal to the church to focus on the youth of Ghana through investment, quality training and offer of sustainable assistance in order for them to become agents in transforming community, family and self.

In the speech read by Prof Naana Jane on his behalf, President Mahama also urged the church to make building young people the primary focus for the next 35 years and beyond. In a similar vein, he called on all to be extremely sensitive to the vulnerable in society by extending whatever help given the current difficult economic situation of the country.

After the anniversary celebrations, the vice presidential candidate of the former president also met with NDC party executives and members in one of the Ablekuma constituencies where she encouraged them to close ranks and press on till victory is won by the NDC.

She was accompanied by Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong, Helga Boadi, Miss Dorcas Ofori and Miss Abena Ewul.
