Guzakuza, a Ghanaian-based social enterprise committed to promoting women in agribusiness in Africa and the diaspora, has unveiled categories for this year’s ‘Women in Agribusiness Awards’.
The Women in Agribusiness Awards (WAW) seeks to highlight the achievements of exceptional women in the agribusiness fraternity who have risen above the limit to lead the way for others to emulate.
Programmes Coordinator for WAW, Akosua Nketiah Duah, speaking at the official launch, noted that the awards will not only celebrate the women but will see them supported with mentorship and market connections.
She said the Awards will crown the agribusiness week-long event which will take place from the October, 24, 2022 to the October 29, 2022 in three major regions including Greater Accra, Ashanti and Northern under the theme ‘Revitalising partnership for Sustainable Agribusiness Development’.
She added that the awards will be from carefully thought-through categories, from the various points of the agriculture value chain and network. Thirty-five (35) outstanding and wonderful women across the African continent will be celebrated on that day.
The categories include: She – Innovate in Agribusiness Awards/Agritech Innovation Awards, Perseverance Award, Emerging Star in Agribusiness Award, Role Model Excellence Award, Covid-19 Resilient Award, Innovation of the Year, Environmental Impact Award, New Business of the Year Award, Business Diversification, Green Business of the Year Award, Diversity and Inclusion Award, Export Agribusiness of the Year, Micro Business of the Year and Best Woman Farmer of the Year.
Others awards are Green Business of the Year, Online Agribusiness of the Year, Agritech Company of the Year, Young AgriEntrepreneur of the Year, AgriFintech Company of the Year, Sustainable Agribusiness of the Year, Marketing Innovation Award, Agri Finance of the Year, International Agribusiness Woman of the Year, Agrimedia Award of the Year and Agri Journalist of the Year.
Finally, Best Agri Advocacy Award, Research Institute of the Year, Agribusiness Institution of the Year, Best Government AgriInitiative, Agric Innovator of The Year, African Agribusiness Woman of the Year, Long Service Awards (Women and Men), Best Agribusiness Ally Award, Best Packaging Agribusiness of the Year and Best Packaging Agribusiness of the Year.
The Awards is a hybrid event being supported by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Ghana, Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) and Ghana Investment Promotion. One can visit the Guzakuza website to file their nominations.
Guzakuza have in the last seven years, supported African women by providing them with valuable resources to build resilient agribusinesses. So far, it has impacted over 5000 women from 30 African countries to create disruptive agribusinesses.
