… rewards ‘Me nsa aka ooo’ woman, Nhyiraba Tetteh, with 2-bedroom house

MTN Ghana has fulfilled its promise made to Rita Nhyiraba Tetteh, a lead character in MTN’s first ever Mobile Money (MoMo) commercial by handing over a two-bedroom house to her for the great contribution to the establishment of MoMo years ago.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer for Mobile Money Limited, Eli Hini, indicated that Madam Nhyiraba’s part in the first MoMo commercial, has played an important role, stating that she delivered the information about MoMo by breaking down the service to the understanding of the masses, thereby driving high acceptance of the service.

In addition to her contribution to the service, Mr. Hini mentioned that she joined the team across the length and breadth of the country as they created awareness about the MoMo service to other people. This, he believes, has contributed to the positive results now.

“Over a decade ago, we began the journey to create a convenient way of undertaking financial transactions with an electronic Money transfer system accessible via the mobile phone. We had a huge task of breaking down this service into very simple communication that will resonate with the masses and drive wide acceptance. A script was developed by our advertising agency, and a character was selected to live the script and that, was wonderfully done by Rita Nhyiraba Tetteh – the woman and voice behind ‘Me Nsa Aka oooo’ commercial.

“Madam Rita’s role and delivery as well as the entire cast in MoMo’s first ever commercial, played a significant role in appealing to the Ghanaian populace. Today, Madam Rita’s efforts, as well as those of several others who believed in the opportunities MoMo presented at the time have yielded positive results,” he said.

Mobile Money Limited decided to honour her in a special way by giving her the opportunity to make a request. MTN after receiving the plan of the type of facility she wanted, put up a 2-bedroom house worth over GH¢300,000.00 for her.

“In view of the success chalked over the years, Mobile Money decided to honour all stakeholders who played very critical roles in the MoMo journey during our 10th Anniversary celebrations. At a special stakeholders’ awards night, plaques and certificates of honour were presented to all stakeholders. However, we chose to handle Madam Rita’s contribution differently by engaging her to find out what will be most precious to her, and she told us she needed a permanent place of abode,” Mr. Hini noted.

Mr. Hini added that there were few things that would be added to the house for Madam Rita Nhyiraba Tetteh. He urged her to observe a good maintenance culture that will preserve the facility for a long time.

Madam Rita Nhyiraba Tetteh, who was filled with joy, said she is forever grateful for the opportunity that was given to her to play the role of a lead character in the commercial, and thank the team from MTN led by Mr. Hini for the love shown toward her since the beginning of the Mobile Money journey.

According to her, apart from MTN putting up the building for her, they have also contributed in diverse ways through supporting her with cash, call credit, gifts and surprises on occasions, among others. She took the opportunity to advise customers of MTN to stay glued to the network and continue to enjoy the benefits and convenience of MoMo, adding that the introduction of MoMo has solved a lot of transaction issues.
