Shippers’ Authority visits exporters in Awutu Senya East

The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has visited three (3) exporters of farm produce in the Awutu Senya East Municipality as part of its regular shipper outreach exercise.

The visit afforded the GSA the opportunity to interact with the exporters and take stock of challenges affecting their operations.

The move, which forms part of the GSA’s mandate, helps in formulating programmes and policies to promote export.



The farms visited are 2K Farms and UniFruits Limited in Bawjiase, as well as Jei River Farms at Ofaakor.

Produce from the three farms are mainly perishable fruits such as pineapples, mangoes, pawpaw, passion fruits, among others.

The exporters expressed concern over air cargo availability and capacity for perishable goods, freighter requirements, export financing, among others.

They bemoaned the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their business which escalated freight costs and reduced their margins.

A Principal Officer with the Shipper Services and Trade Facilitation Department of the GSA, Roy Adibi, used the occasion to sensitise the exporters on the mandate of the authority, and assured them of the authority’s resolve to provide solutions to their challenges.
