Three members of the Insurance Brokers Association made Ghana proud at the just ended AIO Conference in Nairobi, Kenya recently. Lena Adu-Kofi, CEO of Safety Insurance Brokers, was named among Top 50 Women in Insurance in Africa Award. Sheila Wristberg, Managing Director of iRisk Management Ltd., was also named 1st Runner-up, AIO Young Insurance Professionals – NextGen Insurance Awards, 2022; and Elijah O. Agyeman – 1st Runner-up, AIO Book Awards.

Lena Adu-Kofi
Lena Adu-Kofi has over 35 years’ experience. She is the co-Founder and CEO of Safety Insurance Brokers Limited (SIBL). She is also the first woman to be licensed as Insurance Broker in Ghana, and the first female President of Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG).
Lena started her insurance career at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Medford, Massachusetts, USA, where she gained Sales and Marketing experience, specialising in Life, Health & Disability Insurance; P&C Mutual Funds & Annuities; Estate Analysis & Retirement Planning. Lena’s career has spanned to Underwriting, Reinsurance and immense Broking experience, where she has contributed largely to the Ghana Insurance industry, especially through new product development.
Lena Adu-Kofi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from KNUST – Ghana, and a JD Law degree from the New England Law School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. In 1993, she became Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF)
Lena serves on many industry committees: A Council Member of the Ghana Insurance College, Vice-Chairperson of IACG, a member of WAICA, and CIIG. She is currently a board member of SIBL Group; a co-founder of Afro-Asian Reinsurance Brokers Limited; and a co-founder of St. Jude of Lord’s Foundation.
Sheila Wristberg
Sheila Wristberg is an insurance and risk management professional with over a decade’s experience in providing professional services to entities across industries in and outside Ghana. Her areas of expertise include insurance advisory, risk management, audit and taxation.
Previously, she worked in Pricewaterhousecoopers, specialising in Tax Reporting and Strategy, as well as mining tax. Currently, she is the Managing Director of iRisk Management Limited, a top ten insurance brokerage and risk management consulting firm in Ghana, and the Executive Director of iRisk Reinsurance Brokers Limited.
Sheila is an executive member of the Insurance Brokers Association (IBAG) and Vice Treasure of the association.
She holds a BSc. Business Administration from the University of Ghana where she graduated with First Class Honours. She is a Chartered accountant and a member of the ACCA-UK and the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) Ghana. She holds a diploma in insurance from the Ghana Insurance College.
Elijah Owusu Agyeman
Elijah Owusu Agyeman is the General Manager of iRisk Management Limited.
Elijah has over a decade’s extensive work experience in the Ghanaian insurance industry, mainly in the areas of general insurance, life insurance, as well as insurance brokerage and risk management advisory services.
Elijah is a chartered insurer and an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) of the United Kingdom. He is also an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG).
Elijah holds Advanced Diploma qualification (Adv Dip CILA, Property Commercial) from the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA), UK.
He holds a Master of Arts (M.A) degree in Ports and Shipping Administration from the Regional Maritime University. He is also a graduate in Executive Development – Principles and Practice of Risk Management from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
He pursued his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Ghana where he obtained Bachelor of Science degree in Administration (Insurance Option).
He has worked in various capacities in the insurance industry as a management trainee, senior marketing officer, sales manager, broker business manager and general manager.
He has additionally gone through training in Negotiation Skills, Management Development Programme, Business Sustainability and International Convention and Maritime Law.
Elijah has insatiable passion for insurance education and awareness creation.
