The New Nation School, a Cambridge Associate school offering the Cambridge IGSCE and A-level Examinations, has outdoored a new state-of-the-art school campus in Accra.

The new campus has spacious classrooms and computer and science laboratories to aid teaching and learning, and also has a Health Centre.

Dr. John Kpikpi, Co-Founder of the school, at the campus’ official opening, called on government to provide a well-defined and structured syllabus for the country’s students.

He said a syllabus that’s focused on the overall academic development of students is needed, rather than one that’s focused on rote-learning and passing examinations.

Dr. Kpikpi said a structured syllabus will help students to cover the necessary material on time.

This, he said, will bring relief to teachers – who will then have adequate time to prepare their lessons and take students through their syllabi thoroughly.

Dr. Kpikpi said: “Government and policymakers should develop a more positive approach to private education in the country for the maximum benefit of children who need good quality education”.

He said the school has, over the years, triggered development in its vicinity – the Ashaley Botwe and Lakeside communities, saying: “The very poor road network and drainage system leading to it have received attention from the school.

“The school executed over 150 metres of drainage and road surfacing work to make the road behind the Lakeside University motorable,” he stressed.

The school runs nursery, primary, lower and upper secondary education, and has won numerous national awards including the Best IGCSE School in Ghana in 2014 and 2016.  It has 59 full-time teaching and 120 non-teaching staff.
