We have recapitalised to serve you more - Imperial General Assurance MD

The Managing Director of Imperial General Assurance, Mr. Robert Wugah, has announced that his company has met the new minimum capital requirement of GH¢50million set by the National Insurance Commission (NIC).

He said the new capital injection into the company has positioned it to expand its operations across the country to serve the insuring public’s needs.

Mr. Wugah said this at the company’s Weija branch official opening.



“The opening of Imperial General Assurance’s Weija branch forms part of our strategic plan to set up new branches in various locations across the country, in order to bring our products and services to the doorsteps of all our existing and potential clients,” he said

He added that opening the Weija branch is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to playing a critical role in the insurance industry by enhancing access and improving insurance penetration.

“In line with our Vision to be noted for excellence in the provision of insurance services of Ghana, Imperial General is poised to serve customers across the country with enhanced and innovative insurance products,” he assured.

On her part, Ms. Rita Apau, Head of Core Supervision at the NIC who stood in for the Head of Supervision, commended Imperial Assurance for opening the new branch to increase its clientele base by bringing its business closer to them. “Today, as we commission the Weija branch of Imperial General, we are witnessing growth and expansion that we believe will foster a solid and sustainable company,” she said.

She added that growth of the company must correspond with an increased effort to meet the diverse needs of its various clients in innovative ways.

Ms. Apau also used the occasion to entreat Imperial General to be mindful of undercutting and ensure fair treatment for customers. She hinted that in order to safeguard the interests of policyholders and ensure safety and soundness of the industry, the Commission is actively embarking on measures to significantly reduce undercutting and ensure fair treatment of customers.

In his solidarity message, President of the Weija DVLA Agents Association, Mr. Peter Aye Neymer, commended the company for introducing ImperialHub – a platform for buying insurance on WhatsApp.

“With ImperialHub, we are able to insure vehicles anytime, anywhere and any day. The platform gives us the convenience to do business and also saves time. I commend Imperial Assurance for introducing this innovation that is helping us deliver our business promise to our clients,” he said.
