PHI Century Ltd., a company that provides aviation transportation services to offshore oil and gas facilities in West Africa, celebrated its 10-year anniversary in Takoradi last Wednesday. The event, which took place at the Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel, was attended by management and staff of PHI Century, clients, key suppliers and industry regulators.
PHI Century Ltd. was founded as a joint venture between the one hundred percent Ghanaian-owned Century Aviation Company Limited and PHI Aviation – a global leader in helicopter transportation – to support the fast-growing oil and gas sector in Ghana and West Africa.
Managing Director, Essie Anno Sackey, summed up the company’s journey over the past decade as “so far, so good”, stating that PHI Century Ltd. is the “go-to providers of helicopter services in the West African oil and gas industry” because of their diverse offering, ability to go the extra mile to meet customer needs, and safe and efficient operation. PHI Aviation’s unique Destination Zero concept which targets zero accidents, zero personal injuries, and zero preventable occurrences, is at the heart of its local operation; and has ensured an industry-leading incident-free ten years of operation in the African aviation sector.
PHI Century currently operates a fleet of Sikorsky S-92A helicopters from its base in Takoradi, where over 55% of the technical staff, including quality managers, licensed aircraft engineers and pilots are Ghanaians. Mrs. Sackey stresses that: “Our focus is to continue to train more Ghanaians in order to balance out the expatriate workforce and improve our diversity quotient”.
Over the past decade, PHI Century Ltd. has provided services for Hess Energy, Talisman B.V. (of Sierra Leone), Tullow Oil, Newmont Ghana Ltd., Aker Energy and Kosmos Energy Ltd.
