The Dunkwa Business Center, under the Bekwai Area office of the ASA Savings and Loans, has organized a free health screening for customers at Dunkwa in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region.
The exercise which benefited over 100 residents including customers and potential customers of ASA Savings and Loans, according to the Bekwai Area Manager, Samuel Odamey Sekyi, forms part of the efforts of ASA to give back to society and its customers.
He was optimistic that the growing number of customers of ASA across the country will continue to take advantage of such opportunities to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The beneficiaries were screened for various health issues including malaria, hypertension, sexually transmitted diseases (STIs), and hepatitis B among others.
The Medical Director of the Soteria Anglican Medical Center, Rev. Dr Antwi Boasiako, speaking in an interview after the event said that the most common conditions, they treated were waist pains, malaria, hypertension and diabetes.
However, he indicated there were high cases of high blood pressure and malaria among the patients who were screened. He said some of the patients have defaulted medical check-ups as well as taking the drugs prescribed to them.
While entreating them to be mindful of their health status, he also advised that they take their medication seriously and also keep their environment clean as a dirty environment breeds mosquitoes that cause malaria.
The Business Center Manager, Dunkwa Business Center, Graham Kyei Kwakye said ASA beyond its usual operations prioritises the health of its customers and the community in which they operate.
Meanwhile, he said aside from the screening, they will also fund the cost of the prescribed medicines for those who took part in the exercise.
The rationale, he said is to contribute to ensuring that customers are in good shape so that they continue to go about their business while also helping to grow the work of ASA.
The customers who took part in the health screening exercise expressed gratitude to the management of ASA Savings and Loans for their gesture of ‘giving back to their customers’ periodically.
