Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the 2022 Running mate of the NDC on Monday hosted over 200 Kayeyes (Head Porters) at her office in Accra and presented them with assorted food items and packages to help them in the Ramadan.
She said she was well aware of the challenges they go through during this period of fasting and prayers as they diligently carry out their daily duties under the sun and in the rains and fasting at the same time, but assuring them of the positive aspects of fasting to the person fasting, their homes and the nation at large.
She reminded them to always have in mind that the Ramadan was an exercise geared at pleasing God from whom all good rewards come.
The Vice presidential candidate of His Excellency John Mahama in the previous general elections urged the parents among the head porters to pay particular attention to the health and welfare of their children and that she was more concerned about ‘’the kids because at this stage they only think about what they will eat and drink, just as how being a child is’’
Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang pleaded with the mothers to have more patience for the children, saying ‘’we have all been stubborn before and now we are grown so now it is our turn to be patient with them and tolerate everything they do for when they grow they will put a stop to it’’.
She also expressed her appreciation to the head porters for their support to herself and the NDC during the last general elections. And that she remembers very well when ‘’my name was mentioned, you were one of those who hailed and cheered me up and I will never forget you’’.
She said the meeting with them and the presents were not meant to repay them but to ‘’show our gratitude for what you have done so far for us ‘’
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Mr. Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, former Minister of Gender and Social Protection and other NDC Regional and Constituency Executives were present at the occasion.
