The Running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 elections, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has donated quantities of provisions and assorted items worth several thousands of Ghana Cedis to Muslims in the Central region towards the success of this year’s Ramadan.

She said the gesture was a demonstration of her commitment and that of the NDC to the welfare of the Muslim community throughout Ghana and the need to work in unity at all times for the sustainable development of the country.

She requested the Muslims during their period of prayer and fasting to pray for the nation and in particular the 2020 Presidential candidate of the NDC,  John Dramani Mahama.

Receiving the items, the Central Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Alhaji Yusuf Mahammed Kamagateh expressed appreciation on behalf of the Muslims in the Central Region and especially Cape Coast, to Prof. Opoku Agyemang and the NDC for the donation which he said was ‘most timely and handy for the religious season’.

He prayed for peace and oneness of purpose in the leadership of the NDC, especially former President Mahama and his running mate, Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang.

The Sariki Zongo, Mamudu Ibrahim Mazawajey was full of praise for Prof. Opoku Agyemang not only for the presentation but also for her proven humility and peaceful nature in addition to her ‘being a mother for all irrespective of the person’s tribe, religion, region or political orientation’.

Prof. Opoku Agyemang was accompanied by George Kweku Ricketts Hagan, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South,  Dr. Kwamena Mintah, MP, Cape Coast North and Richard Gyan, MP for Gomoa West.
