The National Service Scheme (NSS) has announced the opening of the registration for the 2022/23 service year for persons who are yet to undertake their service despite completing tertiary education years ago.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) has announced the opening of the registration for the 2022/23 service year for persons who are yet to undertake their service despite completing tertiary education years ago.

The Executive Director of NSS, Osei Assibey Antwi, in a release, indicated that the eligible applicants are to register with the scheme from April 11, 2022, to June 30, 2022.

“Eligible applicants include previous applicants who started but were not able to complete the service, private applicants who are qualified and wish to apply, and Ghanaian nationals who have studied abroad,” he stated.



The NSS outlined that qualified individual should submit their application letters to any of the regional offices of the scheme or to the NSS headquarters in Accra.

The outlined required documents for registration included a letter requesting a PIN code or reactivation of PIN code, certified true copy of school certificate or transcript, evidence of Deferment Letter (if applicable), attestation/introductory letter from the institution attended.

Other documents required are a copy of the Ghana Card and Student ID card, with an original copy for checks, and for foreign students, proof of study abroad.

The NSS also took the opportunity to remind the general public of the National Service Act, (Act 426) of 1980 which makes it mandatory for Ghanaian citizens 18 years and above who have completed accredited tertiary institutions to undertake national service to the state.

Eligible persons have also been advised to pay for their PIN code using the mobile money platforms of the various telcos.
