As I always say, I believe that we are all born with a purpose. My view is that we mostly all have goals, visions, aspirations and/or ambitions, no matter how big or small they are. However, the question that always remains is, are we actively putting in the work or following any action plan to achieve our goals? Are we following our purpose, the very thing that we know that we are destined for?
According to the University of Scranton, a whopping 92 percent of people who set New Year’s goals never actually achieve them.
Admittedly there are so many things going on, there are so many distractions, especially in this social media age. The consumption of online content has grown considerably over the past few years.
According to Forbes, the consumption of online content globally, doubled in 2020 during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and although the study on this was done across Europe and the U.S.A., it wouldn’t be surprising if this trend was also indicative of what happened across Africa.
There has been a clear rise in snackable content on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and the newer entrant TikTok, which was launched in 2016. There are so many studies out there which illustrate how much time we spend online.
It takes a minimum of seven years to become a medical doctor. In the United States it can take up to eleven years when you consider, under grad, med school and residency. It can take up to seven years on average to become a lawyer.
You cannot microwave some processes. Depending on what it is that you are pursuing, you will invariably have to put in the work.
There are many people who have become experts on subjects because of the access they have to these said platforms these days. The challenge with that is, because it is so easy to pick up information, some people who have not gone through any process, nor have the actual experience to really appreciate the area, say they are experts in such areas.
This potentially puts some people in a vulnerable position because if they do not have the blueprint of a building then it means that the building will not have a foundation.
Anything that is worth knowing will not take a day to know, not all information can be accessed online, and knowledge cannot be microwaved. If you do not have the experience, it will eventually show. Put in the work, it will pay off.
