President Akufo-Addo has appointed Perry Okudzeto and Linda Asante as Deputy Chief Executives to assist in manning affairs of the National Petroleum Authority.
Their appointment is pursuant to the powers vested in the President under Section 49 (1) of the National Petroleum Authority Act, 2005 (Act 691).
“Pursuant to the powers vested in the President under Section 49 (1) of the National Petroleum Authority Act, 2005 (Act 691), the Office of the President in a letter dated January 13, 2022, communicated the appointment of Perry Okudzeto and Linda Asante to the position of Deputy Chief Executives respectively of the National Petroleum Authority,” a press release by the NPA corporate affairs unit stated.
Their appointment as Deputy Chief Executives has been confirmed by the NPA Governing Board at its 29th Ordinary Meeting on February 15, 2022; hence, their mandate will be effective March 1, 2022.
“In line with the constitutional requirements governing such appointments, the Governing Board at its 29th Ordinary Board Meeting held on 15th February 2022 confirmed the appointment of Mr. Perry Okudzeto and Ms. Linda Asante to the position of Deputy Chief Executives of the National Petroleum Authority. Mr. Perry Okudzeto and Ms. Linda Asante’s appointment as Deputy Chief Executives of the National Petroleum Authority will be effective 1st March 2022,” the press release dated February 16, 2022 indicated.
The duo will work under Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority who was appointed to the position in 2021.
They will champion the NPA’s mission, which is to monitor, regulate and supervise acceleration of the petroleum downstream deregulation process by facilitating the removal of restrictions on the establishment and operation of facilities, and importation of crude oil and petroleum products.
They will also have to push effort into ensuring the NPA’s vision, which is to be a catalyst for economic transformation and growth in the country. As a Regulator, the Authority ensures that the industry remains efficient, profitable and fair, while at the same time ensuring consumers receive value for money.
