The Ahantaman Rural Bank in the Western Region has presented relief items to the people of Apeatse near Bogoso. The items are valued at GH¢100,000 and include assorted drinks, toiletries, hand sanitizers, 500 packs of bottled water, cartons of milk, bags of rice and sugar among others.
Benjamin Afful Eshun, Chief Executive Officer of Ahantaman Rural Bank said: “We join hands with the people Ghana in the spirit of solidarity and patriotism in commiserating with the people of Apeatse. These items are expected to bring comfort to the people and put smiles on their faces,” he said.
Eric Daning, Board Chairman of Ahantaman Rural Bank said: “We should be there for each other especially at this time; the people and nearby communities at Apeatse as well as government cannot shoulder all the responsibilities; hence the need for this support”.
Nana Atta Brembi II, Divisional Chief of Byepo who received the items on behalf of the people, noted that since the incident the people of Apeatse have received numerous supports from individuals, churches as well as organisations. “We are grateful for these kind gestures which the good people of Ghana continue to exhibit toward us; Ahantaman Rural Bank, we are grateful,” he said.
It will be recalled that on Thursday, January 19, 2022 a truck loaded with explosives meant for mining was involved in an accident that led to an explosion which claimed some lives as well as injuring scores more. Apeatse village is located a few kilometres away from Bogoso, and currently the indigenes have been relocated to Dumase close to Apeatse.
