MTN Ghana has distributed baby hampers to nursing mothers at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Essikado Hospital in the Western Region.
This is an annual affair that commenced in 2011. So far, over 2,000 hampers have been shared.
According to the Regional Senior Manager South West of MTN, Prince Owusu Nyarko, “The Project started with few regions, however, by 2020 all the then 10 regions have been included. Today we are in all 16 regions distributing hampers.”
He said the total cost of the 500 hampers distributed by MTN was GH₵150,000, covering all the 16 regions of the country.
The Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nkesiah V, who led in distribution of the hampers said: “women, should be accorded the needed respect; even in their weakest moment after delivery, they smile to everyone.”
“How many men have been seen at the ward today; let us support them to be able to take good care of the children who are the future leaders,” he said.
He commended nurses for their hard work and dedication to duty.
Sabina Otoo, a nursing mother on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to MTN for the support.
