The Chief Executive Officer of Think Mahogany Events, Debra- Jane Nelson has been adjudged the Best Event Management/ Planning personality of the year at the 40 Under Forty Achievers Awards 2021, held at Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.
This prestigious award is in recognition of her dedication and commitment to building the events industry as well as being the leader championing the highly respected company that is advocating for best business practices in the hospital, entertainment, tourism, culture and arts sector.
Speaking to the media after receiving the award, Madam Debra-Jane expressed her gratitude to clients and vendors all across the country and beyond for the massive support. Not forgetting the amazing support from her social media followers turn friends and close circle of friends.
“It was a tough category I would say! First of all, I would like to say, thank God for always answering my prayers. And a very well done to the visionaries of the 40 Under Forty Awards Scheme. As an Events Planner, it’s not easy putting up anything of this sort. It takes a lot of sacrifice, hard work, and people usually do not even appreciate it. So, a really big thank you to 40 Under Forty for the opportunity,” she said.
She further extended a special appreciation to her committed staff who work tirelessly to make sure they deliver precise planning, flawless coordination, timeless design and trusted production. She again mentioned the unwavering loyalty from the Event Managers Association of Ghana (EVAG), as some executives were present on the night to support her.
The 40 under Forty Awards is an initiative from Xodus Communications Limited, which seeks to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of the nation’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age of forty from a wide range of industries.
Madam Debra-Jane, who turns 40-year in less than four months, said this award surely is the icing on the cake for her career in her 30s. “What an amazing way to head into my 40s” she said.
Think Mahogany, is an events management and planning company which produces corporate, social and wedding events. The company has produced events and collaborated with other events companies in Togo, Nigeria, Zambia, UK, USA and from Ethiopia.
Think Mahogany Events has trained over 300 Event Professionals directly through its Events Masterclass Ghana Training Programme. It has also trained over 400 and counting unskilled event support staff. Most of this Event Professionals now own their event service companies impacting the lives of trainees from other countries, including trainees from Zambia, Guinea, Uganda, Benin and Togo.
Debra-Jane takes pride in providing employment opportunities for many individuals, both skilled and unskilled, contributing to building the nation’s skill sets especially in the area of creativity and professionalism.
She is also the founder of Zero Hunger Ghana, which is a non-profit civil empowered organization geared towards contributing to the wellbeing of the vulnerable in society by giving them access to safe, healthy and nutritious food.
