The maiden edition of the Ghana Ladies In Tech (GLIT) summit and awards has honoured several women in technology for their role in the male-dominated industry.
The awards, which seeks to recognise and celebrate female entrepreneurs and innovators across the country, is the initiative of Ghana Tech Lab and a host of other partners such as the Communication Ministry, MasterCard Foundation etc.
In her welcome address, the National Coordinator for GLIT, Belinda Darkwa explained that her organisation organises counseling sessions, trainings and workshops in areas key to the development in the Tech space. She added that the award ceremony is to crown all of their nationwide activities.
Ladies from across the country made presentation on the latest innovations. YisonTech Hub came out as winners of the GLIT community pitch with their ‘Mentor Me’ innovative app which will seek to guide especially young girls who would use the app and by so doing helping them with great opportunities.

Most Skillful Shepreneur of the Year – Paulette Watson of STEM Academy Achievers. Her #BeMe Project aims to raise 1 million black girls’ aspirations in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) careers.
Hardware Engineer of the Year – Belinda Akaba of Solar Taxi. She is a female engineer with blazing expertise in the hardware engineering field effectively over the past two years.
