The Middle Belt Development Authority (MBDA) has constructed and handed over ten different infrastructural development projects to selected communities in the Bono Region for use.
The completed projects which are executed under the ‘one-million-dollar per constituency’ initiative, cover the various sectors such as education, health water and sanitation. There are other five projects in the Region which are also at varied stages of completion.
Among the projects is a health centre and a 3-unit staff bungalow at Asiri, a farming community in the Jaman North District. The facility, furnished with all the requisite medical equipment was constructed at the cost of GH¢1 million to help improve healthcare delivery there. The new Asiri replaces an old dilapidated clinic which had no beds to admit patients and staff accommodation to host medical officers.
Other projects include a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for Sampa Presbyterian Primary School and 64-unit shed market centre at Goka at the cost of GH¢425,500 and GH¢427,000 respectively. Amposahkrom Methodist Primary School also benefited a GH¢427,00 six-unit classroom block while separate three-unit classroom blocks have also been constructed for Abotereye D/A JHS, Branam M/A JHS, and Nchiraa R/C valued at GH¢237,500 each.
During handing over and inspection tour, Mr. Joe Danquah, CEO of MBDA, said the projects were in line with the needs of the beneficiary communities, indicating that the move also feeds into the government quest to bridge the infrastructural gap in the country.
The Authority he stated, superintends over 109 constituencies in five Regions and similar developments projects were currently being carried out across those area, based on the needs assessment of the communities. He entreated contractors who are behind schedule to expedite action for the communities to enjoy their fair share of the national cake.
