The Turkish government is ready to collaborate with the Ashanti Region to explore tourism and cultural-related opportunities, for socio-cultural and economic benefits of both countries, Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Ozlem Ergun Uluesen, has said.
According to Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, economies all over the world are diversifying, and the tourism sector is widely viewed as an alternative gamechanger.
Against this background, she noted that the Ashanti Region remains critical in the development of the entire country. This is because of its centrality in addition to its ernomous tourism and culture opportunities, which she said there is the need to explore for growth.
She noted that there are greater opportunities that can be of mutual benefit of both countries, and assured the willingness of the Turkish Embassy to partner local to increase the investment in the Region.
Ambassador Ozlem Ergun Uluesen who was speaking during a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, observed that the Region has peaceful and serene environment for business and investment.
She said Turkey will focus on building its investment base in the Region, while it continues to sell it potentials to the business community in Turkey, to invest in Ghana.
The visit to the Ashanti Region, among others, forms part of efforts to deepen bilateral relationships between the two countries, with emphasis on how to increase Turkish investments in the Ashanti Region.
Some of the other areas that Turkey wants to explore further includes agriculture, education, construction, and trade.
Mr. Osei-Mensah recounted the socio-economic and cultural relationship which he noted had existed between the two countries since early 1960 till date.
The Regional Minister acknowledged the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries.
He noted that Ghana has benefited enormously from investments from the Turkey government which had aided the country’s drive to economic emancipation.
While expressing the Region’s appreciation to the Turkish government, Mr. Osei-Mensah maintained that the cooperation between the two countries should move beyond importation to investments in Ghana’s industrialization drive.
He said the Region has all the supporting pillars for business, citing its geographic location as vital and conducive for an effective business transaction.
Mr. Osei Mensah also assured the Turkish Ambassador of the government’s commitment to collaborate with her government to explore areas that will strengthen the economic base of both countries.
The Turkish government, through its Embassy in Ghana, wants to have a rather stronger investment presence and visibility in the Ashanti Region.
Under this new friendship and in furtherance to deepening investment partnership, the ARCC said it will periodically meet with investors from Turkey. This will be done under the auspices of the Turkish Embassy to brainstorm on how to take advantage of new business opportunities and investment in the Region.
