The Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana, Abena Osei-Poku has been recognized as a top corporate personality in the country at the 6th Ghana Women of the Year Honours recently organized by Glitz Africa.
Mrs. Osei-Poku was among 13 remarkable women from diverse fields who were celebrated at the awards ceremony for using their expertise, position and influence to inspire others to make a difference in driving other women forward.
Abena Osei-Poku was named the Corporate Personality of the Year, an honour which is in recognition of her inspiring achievements, exemplary leadership in Ghana’s financial sector and her commitment to upholding good corporate governance as well as supporting people’s dreams and possibilities through the provision of financial services, solutions and opportunities.
Commenting on the announcement, Mrs. Osei-Poku said: “I am truly humbled and honoured by this recognition. As a leader, my passion and commitment is to give meaning to people’s lives and this remains my guiding principle as we continue to drive shared prosperity for all.”

The Ghana Women of the Year Honours is a night where women excelling and making a great impact in various fields of endeavour are acknowledged and their stories shared to inspire the next generation of ambitious and impact-conscious women.
Other women honorees were Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey; Patricia Obo-Nai, CEO of Vodafone Ghana; Former Chief Justice Georgina T. Wood; Eng. Carlien Bou-Chedid, Independent Structural /Earth Engineer; and President of FAEO, Dr. Juliet Cuakli, Founder and Medical Director of Child Accra among others.
