Adeline Tetteh, a third-year Law student of the Central University leads the charge to change the narrative of student leadership as she stands as the only female presidential aspirant for the 2021/2022 Student Representative Council (SRC) presidential race.
Student leadership and politics is a very competitive space and serves as a springboard for nurturing the national political and business leaders of the future.
The space however is largely dominated by men and over the years has become a very tough terrain for women to venture into. However, a young, vibrant law student of the Central University is gradually changing the narrative.
In an interview with the B&FT, Adeline Tetteh noted that being the only female aspirant for the presidential race at the Central University Students Representative Council (SRC), she is motivated by the needs of her fellow students and the urgency required in addressing those needs.
She said “My vision for this school transcends beyond the walls of the school. For instance, I want to be able to tackle the issue of unemployment. I want to create an enabling environment where we organize business fairs, pair students with organizations in order for them to gain work experience and get them ready for the job market. I also intend to liaise with government and private institutions to create a seed fund project which will be competed for and won by the most innovative, scalable, employable and sustainable business idea”.
An old girl of the St Mary’s Senior High School, Miss Tetteh has six focal areas which are, to raise business gurus, fix campus roads, talent management, early release of results, provision of street lights and provide more practical opportunities for students.
Adeline is motivated by the ambition to inspire more women to venture into leadership positions to change the gender narratives in leadership and to encourage them attain their full potential. She has already gained huge following among the general student population, as she seems to communicate the needs of students in a way that has never been experienced. She attributes the following she currently enjoys to her good communication skills and ability to relate and provide pragmatic solutions to the needs of the students.
Together with her running mate, Adoye Boakye Acheampong, the vociferous law student promised to ensure that these targeted areas, which are a reflection of the needs and the voice of students of the Central University students, are met.
She also called called on the student body of the Central University to support and vote for her come Wednesday, August 4 when they visit the polls.
