Arla Foods marks World Milk Day with New Life Orphanage

Arla Foods Limited, producers of one of the country’s leading milk brands Dano milk, in commemoration of World Milk Day (WMD), has donated its products to the New Life Orphanage home located near the Junction Mall, Nungua, Accra.

The donation exercise forms part of the company’s activities to give back to society and sensitize people about the nutritious value and power of milk and milk products to the human well-being.

According to management of Arla, every year during this period when relevance of milk is being recognized globally, it also takes the opportunity to go around different communities in the country to share the good news as well as share their products with them to celebrate together.



Senior Country Manager, Arla Foods, Fatoumata Doro, said: “Every year what we do is go to different regions in the country and run different activities. Last year, we were at Tema General Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic to donate some items to them, and this year, we want to make it bigger so we did it in different places including Koforidua, Kumasi, Takoradi, Volta Region and now here at the Orphanage Nungua-Accra.”

She further indicated that the initial arrangement was to provide the orphanage with products but after discussions with management of the facility, it has decided that every quarter it will support them with some products and also invite them to field tours in their production factory to learn about their business as a means to motivate the kids to aspire for great potentials.

Head of Orphanage, and Chief of the community, Nii Afotey Botwe II, receiving the items on behalf of the orphanage, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Arla Foods management for the visit in spite of the economic challenges posed by Covid 19.

He stated that the New Life Orphanage started some 20 years ago and currently houses 92 children, some of which are in the tertiary institutions such as the universities and nursing training colleges. It is also supporting some 327 disabilities, 34 aged people and 45 widows.

He requested for individuals and other organizations to also come along to support the home.

Brand Ambassador for Dano Milk, Deloris Frimpong, known in showbiz as Delay, shared her life experiences with the Orphans and talked to them about tapping into their inner strength. She also advised them on the need to continue dreaming and pushing against the odds until they fulfill their dreams.

She also urged the general public to patronize milk products to meet required nutritional needs of the body, especially Dano Milk products which comes in different varieties and flavours such as cool cow milk powder, strawberry flavoured milk powder, mango, chocolate among others.

The children expressed their joy and appreciation through song ministrations, dance performances and indoor games.
