The Ghana High Commission in Nigeria has sent out a notification that all stranded Ghanaians willing to return must pay a fee to assist their evacuation to Ghana tomorrow – Tuesday, June 2, 2020. The fee ranges from US$800-1,000 from Abuja to Accra, and US$700-900 from Lagos to Accra.

Per a letter from the High Commission sighted by this Paper, all interested person must also pay for a mandatory 14-day quarantine at selected hotels in the country before they are allowed to be evacuated from Nigeria. The hotels range from 2-star to 5-star with a cost range of GH¢7,700 to GH¢9,800. The Mission has arranged a chartered flight with Africa World Airlines (AWA) for the proposed evacuation.



The move is to allow the nation bring back its citizens in a safe and healthy manner. This is coming on the back of the recent evacuation of some 241 Ghanaian deportees on board a Kuwait Aircraft that arrived at the Kotoka International Airport on Saturday from the Gulf State. Also, on board the flight were 43 Togolese nationals en route to their home country.

They were taken through arrival procedures by officials of the Ghana Immigration Service and screened by health personnel. They are currently undergoing a 14-day mandatory quarantine at designated hotels under heavy security.

The Ghana Health Service has indicated that some of the deportees have tested positive for COVID-19, as tests are still ongoing for the entire batch.

NOTICE

The Ghana High Commission in Abuja wishes to inform Ghanaians and residence permit holders who have submitted their details for possible evacuation to Ghana that the Mission has arranged a chartered flight with Africa World Airlines (AWA) – possibly on Tuesday 2nd June, 2020.

The cost per passenger ranges from US$800-US$1000 for a flight from Abuja to Accra and US$700-US$900 from Lagos to Accra, all depending on the maximum number (34) of passengers available. Kindly register your name by close of day Sunday, 31st May, 2020, to enable the Mission ascertain the exact cost of airfares.

It is pertinent to state that passengers are also required to pay the mandatory cost for 14 days of quarantine before boarding. To this end, kindly find details of the cost per person and list of hotels with contact numbers as per attached.
