Platinum Social and Fitness Club in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has presented items valued at GH¢10,000 to the Holy Child Community Clinic at Fijai and Canoe Owners and Fishermen Association at Sekondi.

The items include public address systems, Veronica buckets, gallons of liquid soap, detergents, hand sanitizers as well as tissues to support the fight against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) within the metropolis.

Jeffery Lokko, President of Platinum Social and Fitness Club, in an interview with the B&FT, explained that the donation is part of the club’s social intervention since government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities in the fight against COVID-19.

He said COVID-19 is real and urged individuals to comply with the directives given by the President to prevent the spread of the virus.

“The two institutions we have presented these items to are within our training areas: the PA system presented to the fishermen association at the Albert Bosomtwi-Sam Fishing Harbour would be used to educate themselves on COVID-19, the need to keep good environmental practices among others,” he added.

The club, Mr. Lokko mentioned was established in 2001 with over 100 members. It is made up of different professionals who annually support orphanages, schools, the vulnerable in the society as well as offer free medical screening in some communities.

He advised the beneficiary institutions to put the items to good use and encouraged other organizations to support in the fight against COVID-19.

Rev. Fr. Philip Kofi Erzuah, Administrator at the Holy Child Community Clinic at Fijai expressed gratitude to Platinum for their immense contribution.

Nana Pra, Chairman of the Canoe Owners and Fishermen Association at the Albert Bosomtwi-Sam Fishing Habour was full of praise to Platinum for their continued support over the past years.
