As part of efforts to protect frontline health workers in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the country, Kaaseman Rural Bank Limited at Sefwi-Kaase in the Bia East District of the Western-North Region, has presented personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitary items to ten health facilities across its operational areas.

The donated items include 35 Veronica Buckets and accessories, 1,800 sets of powder-free medical examination gloves, boxes of liquid soap, boxes of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, nose masks, and packs of paper tissue.

The facilities that received the items were Kaase Clinic, Debiso Cocoa Clinic, Angela Clinic and Pentecost Clinic at Yawmatwa, and Oseikwadwokrom Health Centre and St. John of God Clinic-all in Western-North.

The rest are Berekum Holy Family Hospital, Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital-Drobo and Adamsu Health Centre in the Bono region.

Presenting the items at the Holy Family Hospital at Berekum, Dickson Owusu Ansah, General Manager of Kaaseman Rural Bank said the donation is to complement government’s effort to combat COVID-19. This he explained, has become imperative to free the country from devastating impact of the pandemic.

He noted that fight against COVID-19 is a shared responsibility and therefore urged the general public to devotedly play their roles in order to make the ‘war’ against virus a success as soon as possible. “We all must adhere to the safety protocols by wearing nose mask when going out, frequently washing our hands with soap under running water, sanitizing and observing social distancing at public gatherings.”

Later in an interview with the B&FT, Mr. Ansah noted the bank has adopted comprehensive precautionary measures to protect customers and staff. He said the bank has erected canopies at the forecourt of its nine agencies as waiting places to avoid overcrowding at the banking halls, adding “though we have spacious banking halls, we don’t allow more than ten customers in at a go.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the management and staff, Sister Judith Magbity, Matron-Holy Family Hospital at Berekum expressed appreciation to the bank for the gesture and assured that the items would be used for the purposes they were donated. “It takes people and organisations who are really kindhearted to donate to others in time of difficulties like this COVID-19 era.”
