Regent University alumni named in 100 Most Inspirational Global Future Female Leaders

Alumni of Regent University College of Science and Technology are making major strides globally and thus bringing honour to the institute that offered them a platform to showcase their talent.

One alumnus has been recently named in the 2020 HERoes Future Female Leaders list while three others were among the awardees recognized at the 2020 edition of Forty under 40 Achievers.



Innocentia Dogbe, Head of Credit Cards at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, has been named in the list that celebrates 100 inspirational women who are not yet senior leaders in their organisations but are making a significant contribution to gender diversity at the workplace.

Benjamin Kweku Nettey Larbi, Romeo Rich-Love Seshie and Derrick Kwapong Darko were among the awardees recognized as 2020 Forty under 40 Achievers. Benjamin emerged winner in the Human Resource and Development Award Category, Derrick Darko won the Family Business Award Category, and Romeo Rich-Love Seshie was adjudged winner for the Banking and Finance Award category.

The Forty under 40 Award programme seeks to identify, honor and celebrate a cross-section of the nation’s most influential, accomplished, young business leaders under the age forty from a wide range of industries.

2020 HERoes Future Female Leaders

The 2020 HERoes Future Female Leaders list also includes London Stock Exchange’s Head of Primary Markets Israel, Justine Zwerling; HSBC Bank Argentina’s Head of Sales, Melisa Turano; Amazon Web Services’ Programme Lead, Ramat Tejani; Goldman Sachs’ Chief Operation Officer for Engineering Asia Pacific, Larissa Dudley.

All the featured future leaders must identify as women at work and could be of any nationality and based in any country, and were either nominated by peers and colleagues, or put themselves forward.

Nominations were reviewed by the HERoes judging panel, which includes Head of Yahoo Finance UK Lianna Brinded. The panel scored each person on the influence of their role, their impact on women inside and outside the workplace, and their business achievements.

Other entries on this year’s list are Olivia Maguire, Portfolio Manager, JP Morgan Asset Management, Ana Perez, Senior Director Consulting, Oracle, Sally Keane, Head of Sales, LinkedIn. Kim Roell, Assistant Editor, BBC News & BBC Three, BBC, Jennifer Lee, Head of Technical Innovation, Audible, Alpha Mae Arias, Client Services Manager, IBM. Also included are Lin Yue, Executive Director, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Mary Agbesanwa, Management consultant, PwC, Plaxedes Makura, ILDP Manager, Legal, Disputes, Herbert Smith Freehills South Africa, Joyce Cheng Assistant Director, Edelman Hong Kong, Katy Goodrich, Customer Success Director, Adobe,

“Innocentia is council secretary for the Standard Chartered Bank diversity & inclusion council, and has been involved in the formulation of a D&I country plan for the past three years, alongside working with the various ERGs to activate programmes in line with the country plan,” her profile reads.

“Dogbe began a partnership with Mentoring Women Ghana, an offshoot of Vital Voices, which focuses on providing young women with the opportunity to learn from more experienced women.  Last year, she was selected by the US Embassy in Ghana to participate in Fortune-US Department of State Women’s Mentoring Programme. Through her work as an alumna of the Art Foundation Ghana’s Women’s Leadership & Human Rights Institute, Dogbe has trained women in rural areas on financial literacy, economic empowerment, and domestic violence.”

Innocentia graduated from Regent University College of Science and Technology, Accra in 2010.

Forty Under 40 Achievers

Benjamin completed Regent in 2011, after pursuing a BSc. degree in Computer Science. He is passionate about empowering youth with the tools, opportunities, products and services to maximize their potential. For the past seven years, Benjamin has represented youth voices at various high-level dialogues and youth fora in Asia, Europe, North America, and Africa.

Benjamin was recognized for his youth development work locally and internationally and his involvement with a number of youth-serving organisations including the African Youth Commission, of which he is a founding member.

Other organisations include YOUNGO, the UN Major Group for Children and Youth, and Youth Bridge Foundation. Benjamin serves as the Acting Head, of the Communications Unit at Regent University College of Science and Technology, a leader in private University education in Ghana.

Derrick Darko is a security consultant, who currently spearheads the operations of Lion Security Services Limited, a leading Ghanaian private security company.  At Lion Security, Derrick oversees the company’s provision of private security services for several local and multinational companies in Ghana. Lion Security has a workforce of over 1,000 personnel. Derrick graduated in 2011 with a BSc. degree in Business Administration (e-commerce).

Romeo Seshie is the CEO of Quick Credit and Investment Micro-credit Limited, a micro credit institution that offers support to small businesses through its loan scheme. The company has since its establishment provided financial support to over 50,000 Ghanaians. Romeo is an accountant, auditor and financial analyst with over 10 years of experience in the financial sector. Romeo Seshie obtained a BSc. in Accounting and Information Systems at Regent.

As part of the award process, various levels of supervision, authentication and validation is implemented to guard the credibility of the awards. Awardees are decided based on the approval of the awarding board, and public voting based on award category.

“It’s a real honour to be selected as the recipient of this award,” said Benjamin Larbi. “I would like to thank God almighty for giving me a purpose to live for. I am grateful to the Awarding Board, and the voting public for deeming me worthy of this recognition, and thankful to my family for their unflinching support of my youth development journey.”

The Forty under 40 awards is organized by Xo-dus Communications Limited and is endorsed by the Ministry of Business Development and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), the flagship policy initiative of the Government of Ghana.

The awards cover a wide range of sectors ranging from banking and finance, energy, family business, agriculture, theatre and arts, journalism, fashion, law, sports, event management, health, technology and innovation amongst others.

Awardees are persons who have demonstrated their commitment to business growth, professional excellence and community service and have risen up the ranks of their companies or industries at a relatively young age as a result of this.
