Mr. Kwaku Ennin, Chief Executive Officer of Zeal Environmental Technologies Limited, has appealed to the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana for assistance in considering engineering students who want to further their education in India.
“This will enable them to be exposed to different and new ways of doing things in the industry. We have some of our workers who have been able to further their studies in India and are performing very well in the field in Ghana,” he said.
Mr. Ennin said this when the Indian High Commissioner paid a working visit to the facility of Zeal at Nyankrom in the Shama district of the Western Region.
According to him, the company employs local engineers who are all graduates – and builds their capacities as well.
He said Zeal has 150 staff with diverse professional background, and engages the service of casual labourers at between 100 and 200 for any given time.
“As an oil-field Waste Management facility, we manage hydrocarbons with both hazardous and non-hazardous waste; and our services extend beyond the country’s borders,” he said.
He disclosed that Zeal intends setting up waste management facilities in other African countries to ensure efficiency within the industry.
“At the 2nd edition of Health, Environment, Safety and Security (HESS) awards, Zeal won the Best Company in Environmental Management Practices, Best Company in On-site Safety Awareness and Communication as well as Exemplary Leadership; this, is an indication that the company is doing well,” he added.
Mr. Ennin said the company supports brilliant but needy students and has also constructed various project within its operational area.
Sugandi Rajaram, Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, responding to the appeal made said: “We will try and see how your human resource can get opportunity in India to build their capacity.
“We will recommend all applications, and we will be happy to receive more applications from Zeal,” he said.
He commended Zeal Environmental Technologies Limited, a wholly-Ghanaian owned company, for its role in supporting the oil and gas industry in the country, West Africa and beyond.
