As part of its humanitarian service and mandate in addressing health, hygiene concerns through education within its community, the Rotary Club of Tema Sakumono visited the Holy Child Basic School situated in Sakumono and donated Rotary-branded nose masks and hygiene bags consisting of soap and hand sanitisers, sponsored by the Rotary District 9102.
President of the Rotary club at Tema Sakumono, Yvonne Gyefour, emphasised the importance of regular handwashing and social distancing during this era of COVID-19 pandemic.
She further admonished the pupils to act as ambassadors and educate their families and friends on the COVID- 19 preventive protocols. The Project Director of the club, Kofi Danso, also wished the final-year students of the school success in their BECE exam, and admonished them to desist from engaging in examination malpractices before, during and after the examination period.
The Rotary Club of Tema Sakumono was chartered on the 13th December 2012, with 35 professionals of various sectors ranging from banking to entrepreneurship.
The club has always impacted on lives of the underprivileged in society by executing projects within the community aimed at improving their livelihood and promoting well-being. Some of the projects include but are not limited to book donations at Teshie cluster of schools; painting of the Sakumono Broadway; donation to the Nungua Orphanage; and donations of books to the Holy Child and Sakumono Basic Schools.
