As part of efforts to accelerate its growth trajectory, the Amantin and Kasei Community Bank Limited, headquartered at Amantin in the Bono East Region, has opened its eighth branch at the Kejetia market, the heart of commerce in the Kumasi metropolis.
The new Kejetia market mobilization centre of the bank, adds up to seven other existing branches at Ahwiaa and Ejura in Ashanti, Amantin, Atebubu, Kwame-Danso, Yeji, and Kajaji in the Bono East.
Its establishment was informed by needs assessment conducted by the bank, revealing that a large number of its customers frequently do business at the Kejetia market and therefore imperative to take the bank’s unique services and products to their door-steps to ensure easy access to their funds.
Preparations toward the establishment of the Kejetia Mobilization centre started 2017. It should have been opened around the first quarter of the year, but the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) which disrupted virtually every spectrum of life caused the delay, thus starting operation in August 2020.
The General Manager of Amantin & Kasei Community Bank, Michael Wilberforce Osae, in an exclusive interview with the B&FT said the Kejetia Mobilization centre would help the bank to improve its deposits collection, indicating that “the bank budgeted to realize total deposits of GH¢40 million by December ending 2020; as at July, the bank had mobilised GH¢36 million.”
Commenting on internal controls to subdue banking fraud, the Manager pointed out that the bank has instituted robust systems to check the menace.
He said it has leveraged technology advancement such as adopting a Mobile App to track and monitor operations of mobile bankers. Mr. Osae added that staff are also well-motivated with appreciable remuneration and incentives in order to quench their appetite for engaging in treacherous activities.
In the next five years, the bank intends to open more branches as it looks to expand its operations. The bank will consider opening additional branch in Kumasi, Sunyani and Techiman, the General Manager concluded.
