Comedy Express, a premium monthly comedy show, has taken the lead to organize the first virtual comedy show in the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The comic event which is slated for tonight, July 24, 2020, has on the bill the industry’s top stars such as EMY Man of the Year, Clemento Suarez; Headmaster of Ghana’s Comedy, DKB; Doctor of Comedy OB Amponsah; and Comedian Waris. Other performers include Foster Romanus, Lekzy DeComic, Jacinta, MJ the Comedian, among others.
The show dubbed ‘Anti-Corona Campaign’ is also aimed at raising funds to embark on charity work in the country in support of alleviating the excruciating effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the less privileged citizens.
The headmaster of comedy, DKB, expressed that Comedy Express has always been the comedy show in the country to be the first at something. “It was the first comedy show to be televised and now due to the global pandemic and the restrictions it has caused; it is presenting a virtual show. One key thing is that 10 percent of proceeds from the show will be donated to the COVID-19 fund,” he said.
Comedian Waris, on his part, indicated that the virtual concert is a first of its kind and though stand-up comedy strives mostly in the presence of audience whose response motivate the performer to give the best, he is still optimistic that patrons will have the same rib-cracking feeling from wherever they may be connecting from.
“Expect crazy hilarious moments like always. All those on the bill are top comedians in the country and I know we are all prepared to deliver authentic content without any compromise,” he stated.
The show would be hosted online by www.veventgh.com, which is an online platform that provides an easy and quick way to host paid virtual events and the showtime is 8 pm. “Fellow Ghanaians, stay at home and allow these entertainers to take your boredom away,” DKB said.
