As the premier male focused organisation in Africa, Junior Shapers Africa (JSA) is pleased to appreciate the relevance of fathers & father figures in the lives of children especially boys on the occasion of Father’s Day.
Last year we celebrated fathers in the media industry and this year, we want to take the opportunity to especially honour Male Religious Leaders in our society and also urge them to mentor fathers.
In celebrating them, we want to draw their attention to fatherhood and urge them to use their influence and platforms to deliberately mentor the fathers and young men in their fold to become better fathers and to also speak more about the relevance of fatherhood in our society. Aside playing the father role to members of their congregation, they also need to make that conscious effort to mentor, empower and inspire men to become better fathers for the good of our society.
It is not easy being a religious leader and being a father to your own children at home and we want to applaud all religious leaders who are making a great effort to mentor and raise children who will be future leaders in our society.
These men play a very significant role in serving as fathers and counselors to their members especially boys/men and we want society and the future generation of men to appreciate their effort and be inspired to become better fathers and men in society.
On this special day, we have put together a list of notable religious leaders who serve as fathers and father figures to many in Ghana. We want to celebrate these men for their dedication as religious leaders in our country, fathering and leading 1000s of members with many branches all over the country sometimes at the expense of their own children and families.
They include Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare, Founder, Perez Chapel International; Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman, Church of Pentecost; Most Rev. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop, Methodist Church – Ghana; Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso, General Superintendent, The Assemblies of God Churches – Ghana; Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, Moderator, Presbyterian Church of Ghana; Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, Founder & Apostle General, Royalhouse Chapel International; and Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Presiding Archbishop & General Overseer, Action Chapel International (ACI) Ministry.
The rest are Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam of Ghana; Rev. Joseph Eastwood Anaba, President & CEO of Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM); Most Rev. Charles G. Palmer-Buckle, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church; Bishop Dag Heward Mills, Founder & Presiding Bishop, The Lighthouse Group of Churches; Rev. Father Andrew Campbell, Catholic Missionary Priest; Pastor Mensa Otabil, Founder, International Central Gospel Church; Alhaji Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, Head & Missionary-in-Charge of the Ghana Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission; and Most Rev. Prof. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Head of Anglican Church – Ghana.
We applaud these fathers and father figures and wish them all a Happy Father’s Day. We also urge them to continue to pray for Ghana and use their impact to preach peace as we head to the polls in December.
Too many of our fathers are invisible and forgotten. We have to celebrate and acknowledge our fathers and father figures in society to inspire our future men to do more for fatherhood.
