President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stressed that there is nothing wrong with contracting COVID-19, urging Ghanaians to refrain from stigmatising those who contracted the virus and have even recovered.

“I remain concerned about the stigma associated with the disease. There is nothing shameful about testing postive for COVID-19.

Stigmatising people who contract the virus undermines the government’s effort in defeating the virus,” he said in his 11th address to the nation on the subject.

The President stressed that government is continuing to monitor the situation and thus everyone must be more disciplined in adhering to the protocols as the restriction are eased.

The latest address allowed the reopening of more schools but President Akufo-Addo said the wearing of mask is mandatory and Vice Chancellors have assured that they would work together to ensure adherence to directives.
