Minority Chief Whip confirms 15 Covid-19 positive cases in Parliament

Minority Chief Whip, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka has disclosed that two Parliamentarians and 13 staff have so far tested positive for Covid-19.

The infected persons, according to him, were informed of their status after Speaker of Parliament directed mass testing of all members and staff of the House last week.

The Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency made this known in a television interview on Joy Prime, this morning.

He further explained that the infected MPs and staff have been isolated while contact tracing has commenced.

Earlier on Tuesday, Director of Public Affairs, Kate Addo had denied reports of positive cases in the House, stating that test results were not yet known.

But Mr. Muntaka described the denial as untrue, adding the situation could put a lot of lives at risk of the virus.
